Portcullis Site Services have recently won the contract to modify two loading bays for a client on sites in Bradford and Wakefield. The modifications are to allow the safe unloading of double deck trailers utilised by their customers’ haulier. With minimal disruption we have come up with the solution of removing the existing pit mounted swing lip dock leveller and installing a longer telescopic lip dock leveller to accommodate for the height difference between the upper and lower levels of the trailer. The new longer dock leveller requires an extension to the existing pit, which we are providing via a modular loading pod.
The loading pod will consist of a cladded steel frame structure complete with roof, gutter arrangement and collapsible shelter, providing a weatherproof environment for the unloading process. Each process will take no more than 3 working days from removal of old equipment to the commissioning of the new. This project is first phase of conversion, with other bays to be modified later this year.
All loading pods are designed and manufactured by ourselves in our fully equipped fabrication workshop, combining experience with dynamic design for a cost effective and robust end product, ensuring the end user has a trouble free system.
A similar project is being undertaken at another site in Newcastle upon Tyne, where we have created a loading bay in a modular loading pod on a building that had no facility for a pit mounted dock leveller. We have closed up an existing doorway to again provide a weatherproof environment for the unloading of goods into the stockroom.
Project photos will follow upon completion.
